Generators from Germany -20/7/11

On this issue which has received coverage in the media, the EAC denies that it has received any offer of free generators from Germany.

A proposal was sent by Germany’s Federal Agency for Technical Relief. It concerns the supply of five generators at a high indicative cost. The cost of fuel is not included. We wish to stress that it does not involve the free provision of generators.

Following an investigation we have determined that the proposal is for a number of small 200 KVA generators (total capacity 1 MW).

The proposal is nonetheless being considered by the EAC and has not been rejected, as reported in the media.
