Following the events of 11 July and the subsequent situation regarding electricity generation, the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) and the Transmission System Operator (TSO) wish to inform the public that efforts are under way to draw up a timetable for essential power cuts.

An indicative timetable will be announced to consumers in the coming days.

The need to conserve as much energy as possible remains imperative so that the EAC is able to reduce the number of power cuts it is forced to make.

We call upon everyone to avoid the use of airconditioning units at home and at work. The use of other energy-inefficient domestic appliances such as washing machines, dryers and irons should be used wherever possible during the evening. We again attach an informative EAC leaflet on energy saving.

We would like to take this opportunity thank everyone who has responded to our calls for energy saving and we urge them to continue to do so in the workplace as well as in the home.
