Research on distributed generation
The research project entitled The birth of a European Distributed Energy Partnership that will help the large-scale implementation of distributed energy resources in Europe (EU-DEEP) was funded under the Sixth Framework Program for Research and Development of the European Commision with 16 million Euros. The research contract (Contract No: SES6-CT-2003-503516) has been signed by EAC in December 2003 for a period of 5 years (January 2004 - December 2009). The official webpage of the project can be found in www.eu-deep.org.
Power generation today and the vision of European Commission for the future large scale implementaion of renewable energy sources and distributed generation
The main objective of this project was the determination of the technical and economic factors for the introduction of distributed generation into European electricity sector. A market research has been carried out and the barriers opposing the competitiveness of distributed generation have been identified. Finally the project aimed to the development of a partnership of the various participating utilities for the future penetration of distributed generation technologies in the member state of European Union. EAC provided data concerning the development of mathematical models for the study of the behaviour of different types of customers and the realization of a cost-benefit analysis for the various distributed generation technologies. EAC was represented at the Strategic Stearing Board of the project by the Executive Director of Coorporate Development Mr. Nicos Papadopoulos. EAC coordinator was Dr. Andreas Poullikkas and associate scientist was Mr George Kourtis. This research project has been successfully completed. The project consortium was also consisted of:
