Research on advanced gas turbine technologies
The research project entitled Mixed Air – Steam Turbines using Liquid Fuels (MAST B LIQUID) funded under the Fifth Framework Program for Research and Development of the European Commision with 1.4 million Euros. The research contract (Contract No. ENK5-CT-2002-00668) signed by EAC in August 2002 for a period of 3 years (October 2002 - December 2005). |
The main objective of this project was to provide design guidelines for combustion chambers of liquid-fired mixed air-steam turbines as a function of steam mass flow rate, degree of intercooling and recuperation and mixture inhomogeneity due to prevapourisation using CFD spray evaporation, combustion and emission models and to evaluate their socio-economic needs and prospects. EAC was involved in the
market research of mixed air-steam turbines and the realization of a
cost-benefit analysis for their use in power generation.
