Minister of Health to EAC: Recognition of the vaccination campaign in a fight in which we all need to Learn, Judge, Act.

On Tuesday, 5 October 2021, the Minister of Health, Mr. Michalis Hadjipantela, visited EAC's Head Offices, where he met the Chair and Members of the EAC Board of Directors, the General Manager and the Organisation's Management Team.

The purpose of the Minister's visit was to express his appreciation and thanks to EAC for the Organsation's support and contribution to the fight against COVID-19. It was related to the Authority's recent campaign, conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the central message of which was 'Learn. Judge. Act', aimed at informing the public, and mainly young people, about being vaccinated against the coronavirus. Through the presentation of scientific data, the campaign listed the benefits of vaccination and provided answers to the various questions and concerns surrounding the issue.

In his address to the EAC Board and Management, Mr. Hadjipantela said, “I am especially moved to be visiting EAC, an Organisation on whose Board I served for five years. That makes me feel as if I have come to my second home. Given the great importance that EAC places on public health, its support in the fight against the pandemic was to be expected. Through this campaign, we succeeded in persuading a considerable number of young people to get vaccinated. I express my heartfelt thanks to the Authority. We all share the same objective of building a stronger wall of protection against the virus, so that we can once again take our lives into our own hands."

During the meeting, EAC Chair Despina Panayiotou Theodosiou spoke about the importance of vaccination “against an enemy to which no-one is immune, including young people." As she noted, “The only way to halt the spread of the virus, to put an end to admitting more people into intensive care and mourning more victims, is through vaccination. Together we can build a protective barrier by taking vaccination coverage to the highest possible level."
